Interesting Unreal Stuff
So I was grabbing a newer version of UDK for myself when I saw this article.
http://www.udk.com/showcase-jazzy
It looked kind interesting, I haven't watched/read it yet but I figured it'd be worth mentioning that if we plan on putting this thing on a iphone we could do it with unreal and not have to bother with coding things.
Anyways just throwing it out there :D

Look I Drew Stuff
Hey guys so I've just been sketching random stuff,
I kinda started on a map idea but it's really sketchy cause I kept getting distracted and drawing other stuff. Anyways the basic idea of the map is that it's roughly square with mountains in one corner, and those mountains extend down the two sides of the map getting covered in snow or lava depending on the side, the forest lies in the center with the graveyard lying on the outskirts of the forest probably in a dead looking stand of trees and then in the final corner there'd be a lake or the beginnings of an ocean.
That way there's several distinct zones but each of them also create a natural barrier, either mountains or water that keep the player from feeling like they should be able to go further out into the world.
Also I drew a creepy fanged gnome magician, a magma beast, a big angry crab (could be normal could be fire) and an idea for some graveyard armor. Hope you like some of this stuff :B

Getting ahead of myself
So I had a cool idea, which you guys have probably thought of too. If the mechanics and style of the game are gonna be simple I think it'd be cool to add a customization element to things. It'd give us more stuff that we'd get to concept and model and also make the game more satisfying to play in the long run.
And I know this is really kinda jumping ahead of things but I figured I should pitch the idea before I forgot about it o.O
Anyway I was thinking we could try and do a crafting type thing where if you kill a bunch of enemies and gather loot from them you could craft weapons and armor that had a stylistic connection to the location (aka gathering loot from graveyard mobs and bosses would get you weapons and armor that followed a bones, death and skull theme)
These armor sets could give stat boosts, or be completely aesthetic, but I think it would be a fun thing for the player to work towards :D and it would help them further define their base character as "their character" especially if the started mismatching sets to get a certain look.
And if we ever decided to try and publish this thing on a browser or an iphone or something it'd do wonders for getting people to play the game and keep playing.
Again I know this is really kinda getting ahead of what we're currently up to though o.O
Oh and just as a side not with the artist descriptions on the side, seeing as you two have your Internet personas on there you could go ahead and put Xelan101 on mine, I use it for like everything :D

Base model fixes
Howdy doody,
I fixed up the bodies of the base models based on Ariel's critiques in my last post, so here's some screenshots! I did a front and back view, and some ortho views for you guys to see the topology flow and everything:
I'm still working out the head, I'm going to be starting on that next.

Heya gang, I started on the base models last night and got to a point where I'd like to put up the works in progress screenshots to show you guys, maybe get your input on things!
I'm still tweaking around on them, but heeere you gooo:

A wild Alex appears!
I pitched the idea to Alex and invited him to join us for this game! I think it's a comfortable position with the four of us!
Talking to him, he said he could do some prop concepts/modeling, character modeling, and doing some concepts for the map that could be used for an in-game map as well.
I mentioned to him an idea I had, where we could have the map have different terrains/regions with different monsters to fight; I was going to design skeleton monsters and ghosts for a sort of graveyard area, and possibly harpies for a mountainous area. He had these ideas for other areas:
"-forest, with little creepy tree elves or goblins or gnomes
-Icy wasteland with like little yetis and stuff
-Volcanic with like fire crabs or magma beasts
-A desert with some sort of lizard maybe
-An underwater or beach area with like merpeople or giant fish"
If anyone else has ideas for terrain and monsters that could be included there, we can discuss it here!
